Our Story: From Lemongrove Spice Co. to Red Barn Tradition

Every handcrafted product has a story, and ours began long before Red Barn Tradition was born.

My name is Stephanie, and my passion for traditional skincare began many years ago. Inspired by natural living, simple ingredients, and the timeless art of handcrafted soapmaking, I purchased my first soapmaking book and began experimenting with cold-process soap in my own kitchen.

After creating my first successful batch and experiencing the difference for myself, I was hooked. I quickly fell in love with the process, the creativity, and the satisfaction of making something useful with my own hands. Encouraged by family and friends, I launched Lemongrove Spice Co., creating small-batch products made with care and intention.

Like many small businesses, the journey was not always easy. Economic challenges, financial setbacks, and life's responsibilities eventually forced me to close the business. It was a difficult season, but it taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, resilience, and faith.

Soon afterward, I answered another calling and enlisted in the United States Navy. For nearly eight years, I proudly served our country, placing my soapmaking dreams on hold while focusing on duty, service, and personal growth.

During my military service, I often reflected on the joy that creating handmade products had brought me. In 2018, while serving overseas, a simple conversation reminded me of how much I missed building something with my own hands. That spark reignited a dream I thought I had left behind.

A New Chapter: The Birth of Red Barn Traditional Skin Goods

After years of planning, learning, and personal growth, I returned to my roots with a renewed sense of purpose.

Red Barn Tradition was created to honor the values that inspired me from the beginning: craftsmanship, simplicity, quality, and tradition.

While the name has changed over the years, the mission remains the same—to create products that people can trust using carefully selected ingredients and time-honored methods.

Today, Red Barn specializes in handcrafted tallow soaps, tallow balms, and traditional skin goods made in small batches. We believe skincare should be simple, effective, and rooted in ingredients that have been trusted for generations.
